HB 896 amends Title 29 of the O.C.G.A., relating to guardians
and adult wards. It recognizes another state’s determination of incapacity as a
deciding factor in an adult being presumed to be in need of a guardian. It also
redefines the location where a petition for the appointment of a guardian can
be filed so that, if the court of the county where the proposed ward is found
determines that the proposed ward was moved to that county solely for the
purposes of filing that petition, and that such court acquired jurisdiction to
appoint a guardian because of unjustifiable conduct, such court may take any
action authorized by §29-11-16. |
